「GAIKOTSU/D」 万華鏡専門店カレイドスコープ昔館がプロデュースする、アメリカと日本、二つのアーティストの世界が交差したコラボレーション作品をご紹介いたします。*English Below アメリカ万華鏡界のベテラン作家として知られ、近年制作にカムバックしたキャロリン・ベネット（Carolyn Bennett）と、幅広い世代に愛される絵本『みんながいこつ』のイラストレーター・田中靖夫氏による、唯一無二のコラボレーションスコープです。 昔館は田中靖夫氏のスタジオへ直接出向き、数百枚の中から選び抜いたナプキンペーパーへの直筆アートワークを手に、アメリカ・オマハで開催されたBKSコンベンションへと渡りました。 複製を一切せず、その一枚一枚をそのまま作品に活かしたいという昔館の想いに、ベネット氏が応えてくれたことから、このコラボレーションは実現しています。 田中靖夫氏の独特の「がいこつ」たちが躍動する線画と鮮やかな色彩は、ベネット氏が長年制作してきたLiquid Suspensionによって命を吹き込まれ、覗き込むたびに異なる表情を見せる、躍動感あふれるカレイドスコープへと昇華されています。 異なるジャンルと国境を越えた表現の融合——昔館ならではのコレクターズピースです。 ※実際のお色とPC上に表示される色合いは若干異なる場合がありますのでご了承ください。

We are pleased to present a new collaboration produced by Mukashi-Kan, where the worlds of two artists — one from America, one from Japan — come together in a work of extraordinary depth.

This truly distinctive collaboration scope brings together Carolyn Bennett, a celebrated veteran of the American kaleidoscope world who has recently made a welcome return to creating, and Yasuo Tanaka, the illustrator behind Minna Gaikotsu (We Are All Skeletons), a beloved picture book that has captured the hearts of readers across generations in Japan.

The journey to realize this piece began when Mukashi-Kan visited Tanaka's studio in person, carefully selecting a handful of works from hundreds of original illustrations drawn directly onto thin napkin paper. Those chosen pieces were then brought to the BKS Convention in Omaha, USA, where C･Bennett was approached directly about the collaboration. Central to Mukashi-Kan's vision was an unwavering commitment: to use each original artwork directly, never as a print. C･Bennett's wholehearted embrace of that vision made this collaboration possible.

Tanaka's distinctive line drawings of dancing skeletons and their rich, colorful palette have been brought to life through C･Bennett's Liquid Suspension — a technique she has refined over many years — transforming them into a kaleidoscope of extraordinary vitality, one that reveals a different expression with every glance.

A fusion of expression across genres and borders — a collector's piece that could only come from Mukashi-Kan.
